Prepare the documents to be added to DossierFacile

Proposed by Ministère de la transition écologique et solidaire , DossierFacileUpdated on il y a 18 jours

This sheet explains which documents (supporting documents) you can add to DossierFacile depending on your situation.

It is aimed at beneficiaries of international protection, including refugees and persons under subsidiary protection, as well as stateless persons and beneficiaries of temporary protection.

If you want to learn more about the procedure in DossierFacile and see examples of documents, you can consult the specific sheet.

DossierFacile is a free public service that helps you create a digital rental application. You can create your application even if you don't have all the necessary documents. DossierFacile accepts documents tailored to your situation.
If your documents are not in French, you will need to have them translated before sending them. More information here.

For account creation and steps to follow, read this guide: Making a rental application file.

How to do it?

You can add your documents to DossierFacile, especially if you are eligible for:

  • refugee status
  • subsidiary protection
  • temporary protection
  • or stateless status.

Start by adding an identity document from your country of origin (identity card or passport or birth certificate), if you have one.

If you cannot provide an identity document from your country of origin, you can add one of these documents:

  • OFPRA birth certificate: a civil status document issued by the OFPRA (French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons). It replaces the civil status document of your country of origin.
  • Residence permit with the mention "refugee" or "subsidiary protection"
  • Travel document for refugees issued by the French State in place of a passport
  • Receipt for international protection issued by the prefecture
  • API (proof of extended processing) issued by ANEF (Foreigners in France) if your residence permit application is still pending
  • APS (temporary residence permit) often issued by the prefecture to beneficiaries of temporary protection
  • Certificate of favourable decision on first application for residence permit issued by the prefecture which specifies that you have had protection.

In DossierFacile, the required proof of accommodation depends on your situation. Generally, you can consult the official information on proof of accommodation.

Note, special case: "Hosted by an organization".

You must choose the "Hosted by an organization" option if you are hosted in:

  • CADA (Reception Center for Asylum Seekers)
  • HUDA (Emergency Accommodation for Asylum Seekers)
  • CPH (Temporary Accommodation Centre for Refugees)
  • in a home
  • in social housing
  • in a shelter
  • or with an association.

You can add one of these documents:

  • a certificate of accommodation issued by the establishment hosting you
  • a certificate of coverage
  • a proof of residence
  • a recent letter from the organization stating your name and address
  • a certificate from the OFII (French Office for Immigration and Integration) or from a support organization, if it indicates your place of accommodation.

In DossierFacile, proof of accommodation depends on your situation. In general, you can consult the official information on proof of employment status.

  • If you are employed: provide proof of professional activity (for example, your employment contract).
If you have a receipt authorizing you to work, you can also add that.
  • If you are not working: explain your situation, or provide a sworn statement confirming this.

In DossierFacile, the required proof of income depends on your situation. Generally, you can consult the official information on proof of income.

You must prove your resources, even if they are limited or come from temporary assignments or contracts, with:

  • a certificate from the OFII (French Office for Immigration and Integration) which indicates that you are accompanied by this organization (sometimes with assistance or accommodation);
  • any proof of social assistance: food aid, aid from an association, social accommodation;
  • all proof of current income: statements of financial aid, mission certificates, support receipts.
Any recent document is accepted. If you do not yet have any income, you can specify this and it will not affect your application.

In DossierFacile, the required supporting documents for tax assessments depend on your situation. Generally, you can consult the official information regarding supporting documents for tax assessments.

It is not necessary to give a Tax assessment notice to validate your application.

If you do not have a tax assessment notice, you can send a certificate of payment of the asylum seeker allowance (ADA).

Choose the "Other situation" option and explain your current situation in a few words.

In the final step, when you validate your file, you will see a field titled " Message for the owner ".

Your message must begin with the word "PROTECTION".

You can then add a few words to explain your situation. This message helps the landlord better understand your steps for your online rental application.

The mention "PROTECTION" allows the DossierFacile team to better study your file.
It will have no negative impact on your application.

  • Clear cans and photos are accepted.
  • Scanned paper documents are valid.
  • OFPRA and OFII documents may have different formats: this is normal
  • Simply add the documents you have.

If you need help digitizing (scanning) a document, don't hesitate to read this article.

You can also contact the DossierFacile team to prepare your supporting documents.

The list of documents to add depending on your situation is here.

What happens next?

The DossierFacile team checks your file and assists you if a document or information is missing.

Once your application is complete and verified, you can easily share it with an owner or landlord via an internet link.

Everything is explained here.
