A Passerelle University Diploma (DU) provides asylum seekers, beneficiaries of subsidiary or temporary protection, refugees and stateless persons with an improved level of French to study in France.

This Gateway DU training program offers:

  • French lessons,
  • cultural and sporting activities,
  • support to build an academic and professional project in France, etc.
The program lasts 8 months, from the end of September to the end of May.

There are approximately 40 similar courses in France. This page is a presentation of the course offered by the Institut de Langue et de Culture Françaises.

Why is it interesting?

The Passerelle DU of the Institut de Langue et de Culture Françaises at the ICP has a total of 468 hours of French courses for each of the 2 semesters.

There is 20 hours of French lessons and activities per week on average, from Monday to Friday.

Passing exams is required to obtain your University Diploma.

If you are a beneficiary of international protection or temporary protection and are under 35 years of age, you can apply for financial support (scholarship based on social criterias or specific annual support).

During the program, you will:

  • discover university in France: life as a student, courses informations and exams, all available degrees and courses, learn to take notes during lectures, give presentations or prepare for exams, etc.
  • have access to the university library
  • receive assistance with administrative procedures.

The French higher education system is complex.

During the first semester, a course with an academic and professional focus will help you define your academic and/or professional project.

You will also learn to write CVs and cover letters, as well as how to submit your applications for the courses in which you are showing interest.

The program offers many activities you can participate in:

  • sports activities,
  • cultural outings,
  • meetings with other university students,
  • conversation workshops,
  • cultural activities such as music clubs, movie clubs, philosophy cafés, theatrical improvisation workshops, etc.

How to do it?

If your application is accepted, you will receive an email with an invitation for a placement test and admission interview.
