French language level certification is an official proof of language proficiency for people with another native language.

It is necessary in particular to:

  • Enroll at university (minimum level B2)
  • Apply for French citizenship (minimum level B2)
  • Apply for a 10-year residence permit (minimum level B1)

There are several exams to certify French language proficiency.

In Agen, you can take:

  • the Test of French Knowledge (TCF)
  • the Diploma of French Language Studies (DELF)

Prices:

  • TCF: 160 euros
  • DELF: A1 100 euros / A2 110 euros / B1 140 euros / B2 150 euros

Why is it interesting?

A French language proficiency certificate is official proof of language level. It may be mandatory depending on your plans (enrolling at university, applying for French citizenship, etc.).

The choice depends on your availability, your project and your budget.

  • The DELF is an academic format; the exercises are longer. You can obtain a diploma that is valid for life.
  • If you don't have time to prepare for the DELF exam or if it's too difficult for you, you can take the TCF. This exam is shorter and the exercises are easier to understand. But be aware: the TCF result is only valid for two years.
