A University Diploma (DU) Passerelle allows beneficiaries of subsidiary or temporary protection, refugees and stateless persons, to have a better level of French to study in France.

This 273-hour DU Passerelle ESPOIR (HOPE) training course offers:

  • French courses,
  • Activities,
  • Support to build your academic and professional project in France...
The training lasts a minimum of 1 semester (4 months), from September to December and then from January to May.

There are around 40 similar training courses in France. This sheet deals with the training of the University of Poitiers.

Why is it interesting?

In the DU Passerelle Espoir, there are between 272 and 274 hours of French lessons.
You will have classes approximately 18 hours per week from Monday to Friday.

You will have to sit exams to obtain a University Diploma.

It is also possible to take the DELF/TCF at the end of the training (extra charge).

If you are a beneficiary of international protection or a beneficiary of temporary protection and you are under 35, you can receive financial aid (scholarships based on social criteria or specific annual aid) every month and accommodation for training.

During the course, you will learn about university in France: what it's like to be a student, how courses and exams are organized, what diplomas and training courses exist, how to take notes during classes and review them outside of class, how to make presentations, how to prepare for exams, etc.

  • Language tutoring with university students
  • Outdoor course (at C1).

The French higher education system is complex.

During the training, professionals individually support each student to reflect on the academic and professional project, depending on the possibilities.

Professionals also help you write your CVs and cover letters, and apply for courses that interest you.

  • “Building your professional project” workshop
  • Group and then individual meetings with the university's guidance counselors.

You will have access to different activities during the training:

  • theater workshop
  • radio workshop
  • cultural outings (cinema, theater, museum, etc.)
  • sports activities offered by the university's Sports Degree students
  • access to university sports activities.

How to do it?

After submitting your application, if your file is accepted, you will receive an email with an invitation for a placement test.
