What is it?

A DU (University Diploma) Passerelle allows asylum-seekers, beneficiaries of subsidiary or temporary protection, refugees and stateless persons, to improve their level of French in order to study in France.

This training course offers:

  • French courses,
  • Activities,
  • Accompaniment to build your academic and professional project in France...
The training lasts two semesters (9 months), from September to December then from January to May.

There are around 40 similar training courses in France. This sheet presents the training at the University of Nantes.

Why is it interesting?

In the DU Passerelle at the University of Nantes, there are 216 hours of French lessons. You will have lessons 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

You will sit exams to obtain a DU, a degree for a two years curriculum in university.

It is also possible to take the DELF/TCF (French diplomas testifying your level in the French language) at the end of the training.

If you are a beneficiary of international protection or a beneficiary of temporary protection and you are under 35, you can receive financial support (scholarships based on social criteria or annual funding) every month and accommodation in order to follow the training.

During the training, you will discover university in France: what it is to be a student, how the courses and the exams are organized, what diplomas and training exist, how to take notes during the lessons and review them outside of the lectures, make presentations, prepare for the exams...

The French higher education system is complex.

During the training, professionals accompany each student individually to reflect on their academic and professional project, according to their possibilities.

The professionals also help you write your CV and cover letters, and register for the courses that seem interesting to you.

You will have access to different activities during the training.

After sending the application, if your file is accepted, you will receive an email invitating you for an interview.
