A University Diploma (DU) Gateway allows asylum seekers, beneficiaries of subsidiary or temporary protection, refugees and stateless persons to have a better level of French in order to study in France.

This University Diploma (DU) bridging course for students in exile, totaling between 252 and 317 hours, offers:

  • French lessons,
  • Activities,
  • Support for building an academic and professional project in France...
The training lasts a minimum of 1 semester (4 months), from September to December then from January to May.

Why is it interesting?

In the DU Passerelle Étudiants en exil at the University of Perpignan Via Domitia, there are 220 hours of French courses per semester.
You have a minimum of 22 hours of classes per week, spread from Monday to Friday between 8am and 6pm.

You are taking exams to obtain a University Diploma.

It is also possible to take the DELF / TCF at the end of the training.

If you are a beneficiary of international protection or a beneficiary of temporary protection and are under 35 years of age, you can receive financial assistance (scholarships based on social criteria or specific annual aid) every month and accommodation to complete the training.

During the training, you will:

  • Discover university life in France: being a student, how courses and exams are organized, what degrees and courses exist, learning to take notes during lectures and revise outside of class, giving presentations, preparing for exams…
  • have 22 hours of tutoring per semester.

The French higher education system is complex.

During the training, professionals individually support each student to reflect on their academic and professional project, according to the possibilities.

  • Help with writing a CV and cover letters, and with registering for the training courses that interest you.
  • 40 hours of career guidance and job placement
  • 10 hours of support with administrative procedures.

12 hours of socio-cultural activities:

  • cultural workshops at the University,
  • physical and sporting activities,
  • shows at the House of Arts and Culture,
  • cultural and educational activities and visits organized by the teachers,
  • International day...
