What is it?

A Passerelle University Diploma (DU) enables asylum seekers, beneficiaries of subsidiary or temporary protection, refugees and stateless persons to improve their level of French in order to study in France.

This 295-hour DU Passerelle course for students in exile offers:

  • French language courses,
  • Activities,
  • Support in building your university and professional project in France...
The course lasts at least 1 semester (4 months), from September to December then from January to May.

There are around 40 similar training courses in France. This sheet presents the formation at the University of Perpignan Via Domitia.

Why is it interesting?

In the DU Passerelle for students in exile at the University of Perpignan Via Domitia, there are 220 hours of French classes per semester.
You will have classes 20 hours per week, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

You will sit exams to obtain a University Diploma.

You can also take the DELF/TCF exam at the end of the course.

If you are a beneficiary of international protection or a beneficiary of temporary protection and you are under 35 years old, you can have financial aid (grants based on social criteria or specific annual aid) every month and accommodation for your studies.

During the training, you will discover the university in France: what it is like to be a student, how courses and exams are organized, what diplomas and training exist, learn how to take notes during classes and review them outside of lectures, make presentations, prepare for exams…

  • 22 hours of tutoring per semester

The French higher education system is complex.

During the training, professionals individually accompany each student to reflect on the academic and professional project, depending on the possibilities.

The professionals also help you write your CVs and cover letters, and register for the training courses that interest you.

  • 40 hours of orientation and professional integration
  • 10 hours of support for administrative procedures

12 hours of biannual socio-cultural activities:

  • University cultural workshops,
  • physical and sporting activities,
  • shows from the House of Arts and Culture,
  • cultural and educational activities and visits organized by teachers,
  • international day...

After sending the application, if your application is accepted, you will receive an email with an invitation for an interview.
