What is it?
A Passerelle University Diploma (DU) allows asylum seekers, beneficiaries of subsidiary or temporary protection, refugees and stateless people, to have a better level of French in order to study in France.
This 230-hour training offers:
- French courses,
- Activities,
- Support to build your university and professional project in France...
There are around 40 similar training courses in France. This sheet presents the training at Rennes 2 University.

Why is it interesting?
Approximately 230 hours of French classes are taught as part of the DU Passerelle of the University of Rennes 2.
You will have between 16 and 18 hours of classes per week, from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
You will take exams in order to obtain a degree from the university.
It is also possible to take the DELF (Diplôme d'Etudes en Langue Française, in English : Diploma in French Language Studies) at the end of the course.
During the course, you will discover life at university in France: what it is to be a student, how classes and exams are organized, what degrees and training courses exist, how to take notes during classes and revise them outside of lectures, how to make presentations or prepare for exams, and so on.

- From B2 level: one class per week in a University Training and Research Unit (UFR) with French students.
The French higher education system is complex.
During the course, professionals individually support each student to think about their academic and professional project, depending on what is possible.
These professionals also help you write your CVs and cover letters, as well as register for the training courses that interest you.

- Possibility to get free support from an association in charge of professional integration
You will have access to different activities during the course:
- cultural activities (museum visits, other types of visits, cultural projects, etc.)
- artistic workshops (cinema, radio, writing, theater, concerts, etc.)
- access to sports activities offered by the University
Being a Passerelle University Diploma student means benefiting from all university services:

- The Student Health Service (social and health service)
- The Student Life service (reception, information, student monitoring)
- The Interuniversity Service for Physical and Sports Activities
- The University Orientation and Professional Integration Information Service
- The Cultural Service (free events, shows, cinema, exhibitions, etc.)
