What is it?

The Passerelle University Diploma (DU) allows asylum seekers, beneficiaries of subsidiary or temporary protection, refugees and stateless people, to obtain a higher level in French in order to study in France.

This B2-level DU offers:

  • French courses,
  • Activities,
  • A follow-up to build your university and professional project in France...
The training lasts one semester (4 months), from January to April.
It is recommended to be registered in DU B1 during the first semester (from September to December) because DU B2 is the sequel of DU B1.

Around 40 similar training courses exists in France. This page introduces the training course at Paris Nanterre University.

Why is it interesting?

204 hours of French courses will be given in the Passerelle DU B2 level of the University of Nanterre. 17 hours will be the total amount of classes per week, they will take place between 8:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

You will take exams in order to obtain a University Diploma.

It is also possible to take the TCF at the end of the training program.

If you are a recipient of an international protection or a recipient of the temporary protection and you are under 35 years old, you can receive financial assistance (grants based on social criteria) every month and accommodation given during the training.

During the training, you will discover the university in France: student life, how courses and exams are organized, what diplomas and training exist, how to take notes during classes and review them outside of lectures, make presentations , prepare for exams…

The French higher education system is complex.

Professionals individually accompany each student during the training to reflect on their academic and professional project, according to their possibilities.

The professionals also help you write your CVs and cover letters, and register for the training courses that seem interesting to you.

After sending the application, if your application is accepted, you will receive an email with an invitation for an interview.
