Make a medical appointment on Doctolib

Doctolib is a website and an application free to make a medical appointment easily with:

  • general practitioners
  • specialists (dentists, gynecologists, allergists, etc.)
  • other health professionals (dieticians, physiotherapists, etc.).

You can make an appointment anywhere, anytime, with a phone or a computer.

It is possible to choose between an appointment at the office (on site) or a remote consultation (by video with telephone or computer).

The website is here and you can download the app on the Play Store (Android) and the App Store (iOS).

How to do it?

Go to Doctolib.fr:

  1. Click on "Log in" at the top right
  2. Click on "Register"
  3. Enter your email address or phone number and click "Continue"
  4. Complete your information: title (Ms. or Mr.), first name, last name, date of birth, and click on "Continue"
  5. Choose a secure password (with numbers, letters and special characters) and click "Continue"
  6. Enter your phone number if you have not provided it before and click on "Continue"
  7. Check the box for the terms of use (mandatory to accept)
  8. Click "Continue" twice to proceed to the newsletter subscription step.
  9. Write the verification code received on the phone number provided in the previous step, then click on "Validate".
You will receive a code to confirm the creation of your account:
- on a mobile phone by SMS
- on a landline by robotic voice message, you must be next to your phone.

It is also necessary to confirm your email address (click on the link received by email).

You must first be connected to Doctolib (with your email address or your telephone number), then you must:

  1. Click on your name and on "My account"
  2. In the "Identity" section, click on "My profile"
  3. At your name level, click on "Edit"
  4. Complete your information: name and place of birth, address
  5. Click on "Save".
This information is sent to healthcare professionals when you make an appointment.

You must first be connected to Doctolib , then you must:

  1. Go to the home page (with the Doctolib logo at the top left)
  2. Click on the search bar in the center
  3. Write the name of the establishment, healthcare professional or specialty and the location (postal code or city name).
You can search for a healthcare establishment (hospital, health center, etc.) or a healthcare professional:
- with his first name, last name and city
- with his specialty (cardiologist, radiologist, etc.) and the city.

You must write the doctor's name exactly, otherwise Doctolib cannot find his profile.
You can write the first letters of the name and wait for the first results.
If you find it in the suggested results, click on the name that appears.
Otherwise click on "Search" for more results.

You can view search results by:

  • availability: for example, if an appointment is possible on the same day or in the next few days
  • fees: whether the healthcare professional charges extra fees or not, i.e. whether the price of the consultation is more expensive than the prices set by Social Security
  • languages spoken: English, Arabic, Russian, Turkish...
  • consultation method: in the office (on site) or by video.

4. Click on the healthcare professional

5. Click on "Make an appointment" on the right

6. Choose the location of the consultation if there are several addresses, and "by video" or "at the office"

7. Select the reason for the consultation for which you are making an appointment: first visit (if this is the first time you are seeing this doctor), follow-up consultation (if you have already seen this doctor)...

8. Choose the date and time

9. Check the box "I have read and accept the instructions"

10. Specify if you have already seen this doctor

11. Click on “Confirm appointment”.

After confirming your appointment, you'll receive an email with all the practical information (date, time, location, and the healthcare professional's first and last name). Everything is also available in the "My Appointments" section of your account.

Before the appointment, you will receive two reminders by email, then one day before the appointment.
If you have not installed the Doctolib application on your phone, you will receive a reminder SMS 48 hours or 24 hours before the appointment date.

You can book an appointment for someone else: on the doctor's profile, go to "book an appointment" and then "add a relative." Complete the information, check the box, and press "Add." The person's name will appear in the list each time you book an appointment.

For some healthcare professionals, you must first book your first appointment by phone. You can book future appointments on Doctolib.

If you need to make an appointment as soon as possible, there is a waiting list for some professionals. After confirming the appointment, you must activate the "make an appointment earlier" option. If an appointment slot becomes available, you will then receive an email or text message: if you are available, you must confirm the appointment time change. Be careful, you must be quick, otherwise the slot will be reserved by someone else!

What happens next?

If you cannot attend your appointment, you must cancel or reschedule it as soon as possible.

This is important because it allows other people to get the appointment if you cancel early enough.

You can move your appointment maximum:
- 1 hour before the appointment for general practitioners, pediatricians, dermatologists, ENT specialists (ear, nose and throat specialists) and radiologists
- 2 hours before the appointment for ophthalmologists, gynecologists, cardiologists, dentists, anesthesiologists, psychiatrists, urologists, midwives, orthopedists and trauma surgeons
- 4 hours for other specialists.

On yourDoctolib account , click on “My appointments” and click on “Move an appointment” or “Cancel the appointment”.

> If you cancel the appointment, click on "Cancel appointment" then on "Confirm cancellation".

> If you move it , click on “Move appointment” and choose a new proposed time.

If you cannot cancel or change the date of the appointment on Doctolib, you must contact the healthcare professional's secretary directly by telephone to notify them.
If you do not contact the doctor, they have the option to block future appointments.

Before going to the appointment, remember to take these documents with you:

  • your identity document: residence permit
  • your prescription (medical prescription) if you have one
  • your certificate of entitlement to Health Insurance or your Vitale card or your CSS (Complementary Health Solidarity) certificate
  • your health insurance card if you have one
  • your medical examination results (blood tests, scans, x-rays, etc.).
Your certificate of rights is available on your Ameli account (under “My procedures”).

You can share documents with your healthcare professional and send them to your personal Doctolib space.

On the day of the appointment, come to the doctor's office at the scheduled time with your documents.

If the appointment is by video, check your equipment (camera, headphones, internet) and sit in a quiet place.
Then, log in to Doctolib a few minutes before (see step 2).

You can contact Doctolib customer service using the contact form:

  1. Choose the reason for your request
  2. Check your personal information and write your request in "Message"
  3. Check the box for information for Doctolib
  4. Click on "Send".

You will then receive an acknowledgment by email and a complete response as soon as possible.
