A University Diploma (DU) Passerelle allows asylum seekers, beneficiaries of subsidiary or temporary protection, refugees and stateless persons to have a better level of French in order to study in France.

This training program offers:

  • French lessons,
  • cultural and sporting activities,
  • support to build an academic and professional project in France...
The course lasts 2 semesters (2 times approximately 3 months), from September to May.
It is aimed at non-French speakers.

Why is it interesting?

In the DU Passerelle of the University Language Service (SUL) of the University of Aix-Marseille, there are 266 hours of French courses per semester.

You have 20 hours of French lessons per week, from Monday to Friday.

You are taking exams to obtain a University Diploma.

It is also possible to take the TCF at the end of the training.

If you are a beneficiary of international protection or a beneficiary of temporary protection and are under 28 years of age, you can receive financial assistance (grants based on social criteria or specific annual aid) every month.

During the training, you will:

  • Discover university life in France: being a student, the organization of courses and exams, what degrees and courses exist, learning how to take notes during lectures and revise outside of class, giving presentations, preparing for exams…
  • have access to the university library
  • have administrative, social, medical support
  • have support with guidance and resuming studies.

The French higher education system is complex.

During the training, professionals provide individual and group support to students to reflect on their academic and professional project, according to your possibilities.

Professionals also help you write CVs and cover letters, and register for courses that interest you.

You have access to different activities during the training:

  • sports activities,
  • cultural outings,
  • connecting with university students,
  • conversation workshops
  • cultural activities: singing, music, photography...

How to do it?

After submitting your application, if your file is accepted, you will receive an email with an invitation for a level test and an interview.
