Take an official French test (TCF IRN)

The French language knowledge test (TCF) Integration , Residence and Nationality (IRN) assesses your level of knowledge and skills in French.

This test validates:

  • level A2 to be granted the multi-year residence permit
  • level B1 to be granted a 10-year resident card
  • level B2 to be granted French nationality.

You are assessed on 4 skills: written and oral comprehension, written and oral expression.

A French language certification is official proof of your language proficiency. It may be mandatory depending on your plans (enrolling in university, applying for French nationality, etc.).
