Help to take the driver's license

Personalized help and support are available to help you get your driver's license with:

  • financial assistance to pay for driving lessons
  • conversation workshops to learn French
  • driving theory courses.
You need to do between 20 and 40 hours of volunteering in an association or a department of the Angers town hall to receive this aid.
To be eligible for assistance, you must: - be in need of athe driver's license for your professional project (training or work) - have resided in the city of Angers for at least one year - pay at least 20% of the total cost of the license. Please note that your family quotient (an indicator of your monthly income calculated by the CCAS) must be less than €800 at the time of your application.
It is not necessary to be enrolled in a driving school.

Why is it interesting?

You can have up to €1,000.

If you need more driving hours, it is possible to receive up to €1,200.

You can chat in French to practice and improve your language skills.

  • For people who don't speak French well
  • Learn the vocabulary of the Highway Code and driving, and get to know the words used.

How to do it?

You must provide:

  • the recent quote from the driving school
  • the assessment of the number of driving hours
  • proof of residence (electricity bill, telephone bill, etc.) for more than 1 year
  • your latest bank statement or proof of income and expenses for the last 30 days
  • the employment or internship contract or training certificate
  • your CV
  • a cover letter explaining the purpose of the permit and the reason for requesting financial assistance
  • the second-level school road safety certificate (ASSR2) or road safety certificate (ASR) for people under 21 years of age
  • for ongoing training, the receipt of sums paid to the driving school or the student's statement (document which specifies the dates of driving hours carried out with a schedule of sums paid).
If you are between 18 and 25 years old, you must provide:
- a complete tax assessment or non-assessment notice for the current and previous years for both parents and the applicant
- a certificate from the CAF or the MSA (agricultural social security) of both parents and the applicant.

You don't need to make an appointment to go to the CCAS.
