Help to take the driver's license

Updated on 2 months ago

What is it?

Personalized help and support to help you pass your driver's license with:

  • financial assistance to pay for driving hours
  • conversation workshops to learn French
  • Highway Code courses.
You need to put in between 20 and 40 hours of voluntary work in an association or a department of Angers town hall to receive this assistance.
To qualify, you must:
- need to have a driver's license for your professional project (training course or work)
- reside in the city of Angers for at least one year
- pay at least 20% of the total cost of the license.
Please note, your family quotient (an indicator of your monthly resources calculated by the CCAS) must be less than €800 at the time of application. You do not need to be registered with a driving school.

Why is it interesting?

You can have up to €1,000.

If you need more driving hours, it is possible to receive up to €1,200.

You can chat in French to practice and improve your language skills.

  • For people who don't speak French well
  • Learn the vocabulary of the Highway Code and driving, and get to know the words used.

How to do it?

What you will need:

  • a recent driving school quote
  • the assessment of the number of driving hours
  • a proof of address (electricity bill, telephone bill, etc.) for more than 1 year
  • your last bank statement or proof of income and expenses for the last 30 days
  • your work or internship contract or training certificate
  • your resume
  • a cover letter explaining why the license is of interest to you and why you are requesting financial assistance
  • the second level road safety school certificate (ASSR2) or road safety certificate (ASR) for people under 21
  • for ongoing driving courses, a receipt for the sums paid to the driving school, or the student's statement (a document showing the dates of driving hours completed, with a schedule of the sums paid).
If you are between 18 and 25 years old, you must provide:
- a full tax assessment for the current and previous year for both the parents and the applicant
- a certificate from the CAF or MSA (agricultural social security) from both parents and the applicant.
