Learn a trade in the crafts industry

With A 3-year Professional Aptitude Certificate (CAP) training course

Proposed by CMA Pays de la Loire Updated on il y a un an

A 3-year training course at a training centre and within a company to learn a trade and obtain a diploma (CAP).

Possible jobs:

  • Food industry professions: baker, butcher, pastry chef, charcutier (pork butcher)
  • Catering professions: cook, waiter, fast food or mass catering employee
  • Motoring industry professions: car mechanic, heavy goods vehicle mechanic, car body repairer, landscaping equipment mechanic, agricultural equipment mechanic
  • Floristry professions: florist
  • Personal care professions: hairdresser, beautician
  • Commercial and sales professions: versatile sales team member, fruit and vegetable seller.
This training includes general and professional French courses.

Why is it interesting?

  • Learning-focused days at the training centre to learn the techniques
  • Work-focused days within a company to practise in professional situations.

  • 2 days of French lessons per week during the first year
  • French courses available during the second and third years of training to continue improving your language level.

The training allows you to study for a CAP (Professional Aptitude Certificate) as a sandwich course combining work and study.
It is a Level 3 National Diploma, recognised by the State.

Studying for the CAP generally takes 2 years.

If your French and your level of education are not sufficient to study for the CAP in 2 years, you can do it in 3 years via a specially designed pathway:

  • 1 year of catch-up learning: French, the working environment, scientific and civic culture
  • 2 years of adapted support classes: French, history, geography, mathematics and physics.

The training is paid: between 27% and 78% of the SMIC (legal minimum wage), depending on your age.
