Where is it?
Take the TCF or TEF
What is it?
You can take the French Knowledge Test (TCF) or the French Evaluation Test (TEF) integration, residence and nationality (IRN), official certifications of the level of French necessary to:
- register for university (minimum level B2)
- apply for French nationality (minimum level B1)
- apply for a 10-year resident card (minimum level A2)
It can also help in finding a job, if the company requires official proof of your French level.
Why is it interesting?
To take the test, you will work on the 4 skills: written and oral comprehension, written and oral expression.
The TCF or TEF IRN can be used:
- in professional situations (looking for a new job or training, confirming the level of French at your company, etc.)
- in administrative situations (file for French nationality, request a 10-year residence permit from the prefecture, etc.)
- in university situations (university application, etc.).
It is possible to do face-to-face training to prepare for the test, with a level assessment, French lessons and a mock test.
It is not compulsory, and can be paid with the CPF (Personal Training Account).
