Where is it?
Helping elderly and disabled people
What is it?
These are volunteer missions to help the elderly people or people with disabilities.
There are several types of missions:
- Visit the home of an elderly or disabled person, once a week or once every 15 days, or call them by telephone
- Take part in collective activities in the association's premises or propose new activities (cooking workshops, games, artistic activities, walks, etc.)
- Using your personal car to take an elderly or disabled person to a medical appointment, shopping or other errands
- Provide assistance based on your own skills and according to the person's needs.
Why is it interesting?
You get to know people living near you and you have a good time together.
You improve your confidence by helping elderly people with disabilities who need support and you get to know them.
You can obtain a “volunteer passport” where all your missions as a volunteer will be noted. This document can:
- serve to highlight your skills and prove your integration,
- be useful in a job search.
The association offers free training to volunteers on various subjects related to their mission: aging, disability, active listening, status and limits of volunteering, etc.
If you want to work as a professional with the elderly or people with disabilities, the association can support you in this project.
