What is it?

It is a 5 and a half months cooking course that prepares for the professional title of cook, a diploma issued by the State.

Here are the different activities offered:

  • Practical work in cooking and pastry (4-hour course with professional chefs)
  • Theoretical courses in cooking and pastry (nutrition, cooking techniques, etc.)
  • French as a foreign language course (FLE)
  • Digital workshops (resume writing, cover letter, etc.)
  • Workshops to find a job (succeeding in a job interview, where to look for a job?...)

Why is it interesting?

Autonomy and concrete situations

  • Les Marmites Solidaires. You will participate every other Sunday in the association's food aid scheme. You will prepare homemade meals in semi-autonomy, accompanied by a dozen volunteers, from the reuse of unsold food. These complete meals (starter-main course-dessert) will then be redistributed to people in precarious situations, homeless people.
  • Self-catering in an association restaurant. Once a month, we organise a themed solidarity meal in a partner restaurant. You will take it in turns to propose a menu based on the specialities of your country. The other trainees in the course will be kitchen assistants and will help you with the production and the service at the table.
  • Independent world cuisine course. You will be the chef and trainer of the day. You will teach the other students in the course the cuisine of your country.

Get theory lessons

The practical courses are supplemented by theoretical courses: cooking techniques, nutrition, HACCP module (hygiene and safety in the kitchen)...

Learn French related to the cooking profession

French classes are mainly focused on culinary vocabulary, the profession of cook. During the sessions, with the help of the teachers, you will prepare a professional file gathering your professional and/or voluntary experiences in the field of cooking. Finally, a point will be made on the politeness formulas to have, during the training and when you will be facing an employer.

Learn to use digital

You will learn how to use useful digital tools for your job search. For example, CV writing, cover letters, etc.

Get support to find an internship and/or a job

You will be supported in your job search and will be able to participate in various workshops. For example, how to succeed in a job interview, where and how to look for a job?

Finally, you will have to do a one-month internship in a restaurant in April. We will accompany you in the search for this internship.

Get a professional cooking title

The diploma that you will take at the end of the five and a half months of training is a professional title. The tests to obtain it focus on mastering professional gestures, i.e. the cooking techniques necessary to exercise the profession of cook.

In 2016, 7 out of 10 people were able to develop professionally or find a job after obtaining a professional qualification.
