A Passerelle University Diploma (DU) allows asylum seekers, beneficiaries of subsidiary or temporary protection, refugees and stateless persons to have a better level of French in order to study in France.

This training and support program for migrant populations offers:

  • French courses (general and specific)
  • university methodology courses
  • French culture workshops
  • activities
  • support to build an academic and professional project in France.
The training lasts a minimum of one semester (4 months) , from September to December and then from January to May.

There are approximately 40 similar programs in France. This page presents the program offered by the Marie and Louis Pasteur University of Besançon.

Why is it interesting?

The DU Passerelle at the Marie and Louis Pasteur University of Besançon includes a total of 254.50 hours, with courses and personalized support sessions.

You have classes 18 hours per week.

You are taking exams to obtain a University Diploma.

It is also possible to take the DELF / TCF at the end of the training.

If you are a beneficiary of international protection or a beneficiary of temporary protection and are under 35 years of age, you can receive financial assistance (scholarships based on social criteria or specific annual aid) every month and accommodation to complete the training.

During the course, you will discover university life and student life in France:

  • organization of courses and exams
  • what diplomas and training programs exist?
  • learn to take notes during class and revise outside of class
  • make presentations
  • prepare for exams…

The French higher education system is complex.

During the training, professionals individually support each student to reflect on their academic and professional project, according to the possibilities.

  • Continuing Education and Apprenticeship Service (SeFoC'Al)

- Presentation of work-study programs (studying while simultaneously working in one's field)

- Presentation of the Validation of Acquired Experience (VAE) process to validate your professional experience and obtain a certificate.

  • Career Guidance, Internship and Employment Service (OSE)

- Assistance with writing CVs and cover letters

- Assistance in finding internships...

During the training, you will have access to various activities:

  • Cultural services of the Centre for Applied Linguistics: sports, culture, excursions, leisure...
  • Media library: novels, comics, magazines, DVDs, computers with free Internet access.
