Take a pregnancy test

Proposed by Réfugiés.info Updated on il y a 19 jours

A pregnancy test can tell you if you are pregnant. There are several ways to take a pregnancy test:

  • With a urine test
  • With a blood test.
You can take the test from the first day your period is late, or at least 14 days after having sex.
Taking a test too early can give a false negative result.

How to do it?

The urine test is a small plastic stick. You need to put a few drops of urine on it and wait a few minutes. Then,

  • If you see 1 line: you are not pregnant.
  • If you see 2 lines: you are pregnant.

You can buy a urine test at a pharmacy or supermarket. It costs on average between €2 and €10. Please note that it is not covered by social security.

To get a free urine test, you can go to a Family Planning center.

If you have had a positive urine test, a blood test will confirm that you are pregnant.

To avoid paying anything, you need to make an appointment with a doctor (or midwife) to get a prescription.

You can also have the blood test done without a prescription, but you have to pay for it (around €15).

Next, the blood test is done at a medical analysis laboratory. You can book an appointment on Doctolib. The blood test is covered by Social Security.
