Get the VISALE guarantee

Comité de la Démarche AccessibleProposed by Comité de la Démarche Accessible Updated on il y a un mois

The VISALE guarantee (Visa for Housing and Employment) is a free service that helps you rent accommodation.
With VISALE, Action Logement becomes your “guarantor”.

What is a guarantor?

A guarantor is a person (or organization) who agrees to pay on your behalf if you get into difficulty. This is also called "standing surety" for you.

The owner or social landlord can call on the guarantor:

  • if you do not pay the rent or charges,
  • if there are major repairs to be made after your departure (for example: damaged wall, broken door).

Having a guarantor reassures the owner and makes it easier to sign the rental contract.

How does the VISALE guarantee work?

  • The request is made online, free of charge, before signing the rental contract for the accommodation.
  • Access conditions depend on your personal and professional situation and the location of your accommodation.
  • In the event of a problem, Action Logement (via VISALE) pays the owner or social landlord directly.
  • Then, you repay Action Logement, in one or more installments.
VISALE does not replace the "security deposit" (the amount of money paid to the landlord upon your entry into the accommodation). The landlord can therefore still ask you for a security deposit, even if you have VISALE.
If you need help paying the security deposit, you can use the Avance Loca-Pass . This is a no-fee loan offered by Action Logement.

How to do it?

1. Your situation

  • You are between 18 and 30 years old (inclusive) and you are a student, work-study student (courses and work in a company at the same time), intern, unemployed, employee, self-employed worker, independent or entrepreneur, etc.).
  • You are over 30 years old and you are an employee of a company in the private or agricultural sector:
    - hired for less than 6 months (except confirmed permanent contract)
    - or with a net salary less than or equal to €1,500 per month
    - or professional mobility (changed jobs within the same company or group)
    - or with a promise of employment of less than 3 months.
  • You are housed by a rental intermediation structure (an organization that helps people find accommodation)
  • You have signed a mobility lease
  • You are a seasonal worker
For each situation, you need supporting documents and a valid identity document (see step 2).

2. Your accommodation

  • is your main residence (unless it is a mobility lease )
  • is furnished or not
  • must be decent (clean, safe and in good condition) and have water, heating, toilets and a minimum of comfort to live properly
  • must have a rent (including charges) of €1,500 maximum in Île de France or €1,300 maximum in the rest of the country
  • can be in a residential home or in a student or university residence for young people aged 18 to 30
  • may give entitlement to APL ( personalized housing assistance) if it is social housing and if you are a student or work-study student.

3. Your lease (rental agreement)

  • must be signed after confirmation of the VISALE guarantee and before the end date written on the document .
  • cannot be signed between people of the same family
  • must not be covered by other guarantees (guarantee by a natural person or insurance)
  • must be individualized for each roommate in the case of joint tenancy
  • must be the subject of a law 89 lease and include a termination clause (i.e. specify the automatic termination of the contract if a specific condition is not met).
A lease is a written and signed document that allows a person to live in a dwelling by paying rent each month to a private landlord or a social landlord.
This document is official proof that you live at this address.

1. Download your visa from your personal space, it is the official document that proves that you have the VISALE guarantee.

On the visa, there is always:

  • the maximum rent covered by the guarantee, charges included
  • the period to use this guarantee.

2. Give or send this document to the private owner or social landlord so that they can activate your VISALE guarantee.

They must create an account for themselves on Visale.fr and apply for a VISALE contract. A surety bond contract is automatically created.

3. Sign the lease with the owner or social landlord.

If any information or documents are missing from your file, Action Logement will send you a message asking you to complete them.

You must log in to your personal space to update it and add the requested documents.

If you have not completed your application within 15 days, your visa application will no longer be valid and you will have to start all over again.
