What is it?

A Passerelle University Diploma (DU) allows asylum seekers, beneficiaries of subsidiary or temporary protection, refugees and stateless people, to improve their knowledge in French in order to study in France.

This DU Passerelle exiled students (DUP) training course offers:

  • French lessons,
  • Activities,
  • Support to build your academic and professional career in France...
The training lasts 2 semesters (9 months), from September to January and from January to May.

There are around 40 similar training courses in France. This sheet presents the training at Le Mans University.

Why is it interesting?

In the DU Passerelle Students in exile at Le Mans University, there are 250 hours of French lessons.

A level is prepared and validated in one semester (14 weeks per level).

You will sit exams to obtain a University Diploma.
Obtaining the DUP at B2 or C1 level and the admission confirmation by the jury of the chosen training allows the student to directly enter training at university, without having to take a French certification.

It is also possible to take the DELF/TCF at the end of the training.

If you are a beneficiary of international protection or temporary protection and you are under 35 years old, you can have a financial assistance (scholarship based on social criteria or specific annual aids) every month and accommodation to complete the training.

During the training, you will discover the university in France: what it is like to be a student, how courses and exams are organized, which diplomas and training exist, how to take notes during classes and review your lessons outside lectures, make presentations, prepare for exams...

  • Tandem with another university student or staff
  • access to the resource center of the Maison des Langues.

The French higher education system is complex.

During the training, professionals assist each student individually to reflect on their academic and professional career, according to the possibilities.

The professionals also help you write your CV and cover letters, and register for the training courses that interest you.

This training also offers:

  • Free access to practice courses at the Maison des Langues discover or learn more about a language other than French...

You will have access to different activities during the training:

  • Cultural outings, exhibitions, visits
  • Free show tickets
  • Writing games,
