Learn French vocabulary with pictures

Sen-Mo picture books are books for learning French vocabulary for everyday and professional situations.

Each book presents 100 words around a topic. Each word is associated with an image, an international phonetic transcription, and a simplified phonetic transcription to show how to pronounce it.

The available topics are:

  • food
  • work
  • the highway code
  • leisure activities
  • health
  • women's health
  • construction and civil engineering
  • construction and public works
  • Welcome!
These picture books were created with volunteers who chose the words and drew the pictures.

Why is it interesting?

Picture books help to learn vocabulary and to pronounce important words correctly, to progress in French, both orally and in writing.

You can also use picture books to discuss with other people.

Welcome! is a special picture book for people who have just arrived in France.

There are over 200 words and phrases to learn the basics of French on everyday topics: introducing myself, taking care of myself, shopping, handling administrative procedures, working...

The bilingual versions available today are: Albanian-French, Amharic-French, English-French, French-Ukrainian and French-Russian.

You can find all the words from the picture books on our Yiotta platform. Each word is associated with its image, just like in the picture book, as well as recordings in French or other languages.

How to do it?

All the picture books are available for free on the fable-Lab website. You can click on the theme that interests you and download the document.

Paper versions of the picture books are also available for sale.

All the content of the picture books (images, words, phonetics) and new resources (translations, pronunciation recordings) are available on the Yiotta platform.
