How to get medical and psychological support

Updated on il y a 8 mois

What is it?

The ESSOR 63 center of the Forum Réfugiés association helps and accompanies free of charge people with psychological suffering linked to exile, and victims of violence or torture.

The center welcomes all newcomers, refugees and asylum seekers, without distinction of sex, age or nationality.

A professional interpreter in your language is always present if your level of French does not allow you to express yourself well.

Why is it interesting?

Leaving your country, your landmarks, and sometimes your family and loved ones, is a very difficult process. Arriving in France can sometimes be a violent experience, and the exile process, which is often very complicated, can be a source of psychological and/or physical trauma.

You may feel the need to talk, to share, to be accompanied and supported in building new points of reference. The team at ESSOR 63 welcomes you and listens to you, so that we can offer you support tailored to your needs. You play an active role in this care process, and the psychologists will support you for as long as you wish.

If your level of French does not allow you to be comfortable expressing your ideas and emotions, we call on a professional interpreter in your language .

He/she can be here during your appointments with the doctor and/or the psychologist, or on the phone, to translate and facilitate the exchanges.

The ESSOR 63 care center offers free individual and family consultations for all newcomers, regardless of sex, age or nationality.

How to do it?

This may be a health professional, social worker, education professional or volunteer.

This person completes an orientation sheet , and sends it by email to the ESSOR 63 center team: centreessor63@forumrefugies.org

It is also possible to request orientation sheets by sending an email to the same address.

The ESSOR 63 center team responds to the request for guidance by contacting the professional and/or directly with you.

You can also visit ESSOR 63, preferably after calling 04 63 46 89 80 or 06 14 96 71 66.

The ESSOR 63 centre is located at

5 Rue du Torpilleur Sirocco

63100 CLERMONT-FERRAND

It is accessible by TRAM A and Bus Line 22, "Croix de Neyrat" stop.

The ESSOR 63 centre is open

- Tuesdays, 9.30am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 5pm,

- Wednesdays, 9.30am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 6pm (7pm on even weeks)

- Thursdays, 8.30am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 5pm

After orientation by a professional, or when an appointment has been given to you after your visit, you benefit from an initial reception interview.

You will be seen by a psychologist and possibly a general practitioner, to assess your situation and your needs.

After your initial reception interview, you will be offered appropriate medical follow-up. You are free to accept it or not.

If the ESSOR 63 center is not the structure best suited to meet your needs, the professionals can offer you other possibilities and direct you towards other systems that will support you.

You may also decide that you prefer to wait before starting a follow-up. In this case, you can reconnect at any time with the center, which will welcome you when you feel ready.
