Organize cultural walks

"Passeurs de cultures" - Migrantour

Last update28 janv. 2022

What is it?

Walks in the Paris region to highlight the individual journeys of immigrants, refugees, exiles, migrants: “Passeurs de cultures” who come to tell their stories at a tourist site, in a neighbourhood, or in a museum (European Migrantour program).

The first step is to do the "Passeurs de culture" training to learn from professionals and university students how to organize a cultural walk.

Then, the migrants are able to create and accompany walks, to present their journeys, their stories, their experiences in France. They use their personal link to a region, a district or a monument to share cultural identities.

The objective is to transform the image of immigrants in the history of cities.

Good to know: It is also possible to participate in walks without organizing them.

Several walks are offered in Paris and Île-de-France.

Why is it interesting?

A new experience in Paris and Île de France

Visit the capital and the towns around Paris seen from the original and personal point of view of each culture trader.

New people and different cultures

Share moments with different people: for example an Italian merchant from La Courneuve, a Parisian from the 15th arrondissement, a Spanish printer from Choisy, an Algerian cook from Saint Denis, a market gardener from Cergy... who may have lived there for a long time or may just have arrived yesterday in the city.

Experience travel thanks to a conversation about a district, a business, a monument, a party, a meal, a garment, a language...

Organizers and participants in the walks will create a strong social bond and learn the importance of migration in the region.

Economic benefit

The culture traders are paid for the tours, like professionals.

Participants can enjoy free walks.
