What is it?

The Student Refugee Program at École des Ponts ParisTech will allow you to learn French up to level B2 with the aim of resuming studies in French higher education.

This program specializes in the support, training and guidance of science students (civil engineering, mechanical engineering, mathematics, computer science, economics, transport, energy, etc.), who have already completed at least two years of study graduate studies.

Why is it interesting?

Learn French up to level B2

The program offers:

  • French lessons for beginners (A2 minimum),
  • phonetics lessons and conversation workshops to practice and improve your language throughout the year.

Learn English

You will also take English lessons with school teachers.

Have science and computer classes

Science and computer classes are given every week to deepen or refresh your knowledge. This will then allow you to integrate higher education training in France.

Have school lessons with the rest of the engineering students

You will be integrated into certain courses of the different departments of the School which are:

  • City environment transport
  • Mechanical engineering and materials
  • Civil engineering and construction
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Mathematical and Computer Engineering
  • Economics and financial management

Receive personalized academic and professional support

Every week, you will take part in orientation workshops to build your plan to resume your studies, help you write your CV and cover letters and apply for higher education courses.

You will also be accompanied by a student to facilitate your year at the School as well as a former student of the School who will give you advice on your return to studies and your professional integration.

Career workshops are also organized throughout the year to help you find an internship or work-study program and train you for job interviews.

Take advantage of all the School's services (student card, library, restaurant, etc.)

You will also have the opportunity to participate in conferences by researchers and professionals from the École des Ponts ParisTech sectors, to participate in cultural outings in Paris and its region and to meet other students at sporting and cultural events.

Finally, all the services of the School will be accessible to you:

  • Student card
  • Library, gym
  • Restaurant with student subsidy for meals
  • Computers, wifi, photocopiers
  • Language certifications (TCF for French, TOEIC for English)
  • Student medicine and psychologist of the School

How do I get involved?

Admission criteria

Here are the criteria for applying:

  • Be between 18 and 35 years old
  • Be an asylum seeker or beneficiary of international protection (refugee status, subsidiary protection, temporary protection, family reunification)
  • Have at least two years of higher education in a field corresponding to the School's teaching (civil engineering, mechanical engineering, mathematics, computer science, economics, transport, energy, etc.)
  • Have a plan to resume studies
