Welcoming a refugee
with "citizen accommodation" programs
What is it?
Are you a citizen wishing to do voluntary work for a refugee and would you like to commit yourself to a citizen's accommodation scheme: providing a private room, accommodation or shared accommodation, all in collaboration with an association? The State would like to help you make this commitment a reality.
Come and make a commitment to one of the organisations listed below, most of which are supported by the Diha (Interministerial Delegation for Housing and Access to Housing), and host a refugee until a permanent accommodation solution is found.
Welcoming a refugee into your home is not just about providing accommodation, it is also about encouraging their integration into French society by allowing them to focus on their integration project and by giving them the opportunity to practise French regularly.
These citizen accommodation and shared accommodation programmes are aimed at anyone who wants to get involved with refugees and who has a private space that can be used (room, flat, shared accommodation, etc.). The willingness to share and exchange with the person being hosted is nevertheless essential to ensure the success of the cohabitation and the comfort of everyone.
Who is it for?

France entière
Why is it interesting?
Allow the refugee person to become fully involved in their life project
Temporarily accommodated at your home, the refugee will no longer have to worry about this problem and will be able to concentrate fully on the creation and realization of his personal project.
Help them learn French and discover its culture
Your presence, as well as the meeting of French-speaking people, will allow him/her to progress easily in French, for more self-confidence and autonomy, and to discover the French society and culture.
Share friendly moments and enrich yourself with new encounters
Participating in a citizen accommodation program will bring you to meet new people, different from your usual social circle. You will experience unique moments of sharing and exchange with the person welcomed and will have the opportunity to discover new cultures (traditions, history, cooking, music, etc.).
